PROTEEN

Proteen interrupts generational poverty and school dropout through innovative and culturally relevant leadership development, individualized support, and community supports. Youth become better positioned to navigate life challenges in school or at home.

GET STARTED TODAY

THREADS

THREADS meets three times a week during high crime hours (3-8pm), to provide young men a space to lean on each other and their mentors. The program is designed to teach these youth alternative ways to deal with difficult situations then what they’ve previously been exposed to. Either by court referral or on an individual basis, THREADS accepts these young men right where they are and leads them into adulthood.

PROTEEN GO

Proteen GO (Girls Only) empowers young ladies ages 11-18 to find their passions and use their power of choice in positive ways.  Helping them avoid exploitation, teen pregnancy, violence and academic failure, the program meets weekly for dinner, group discussions and mentoring.  Encouraged by the strong female leadership in this city, we build girls’ confidence and guide them through their school years with care and support.

CURFEW

Proteen Outreach serves as the intervention component of the City of Tacoma’s curfew initiative. The purpose of the program is to reduce juvenile delinquency and high risk behaviors and to increase the likelihood of positive outcomes in youth who have violated the City’s curfew ordinance.  Youth who participate in the program are eligible to have their curfew waived. OUTREACH

Street outreach is an important part of the City of Tacoma’s Gang Reduction Project to reduce and prevent gang violence through prevention, intervention and suppression efforts. Street outreach involves our Team of Intervention Specialists  “working the streets,” making contact with youth in neighborhoods with high levels of gang activity. We link at-risk youth to services and pro-social activities and engage youth in activities to learn about and disrupt violence.
