This past April, NLF was honored to receive the 2016 Ron Pierre Vignec Community Partner Award. A part of PLU’s Annual “Celebration of Service” hosted by its Center for Community Engagement and Service (CCES), NLF was selected for this award thanks to our partnership with PLU over the past 7 years in lifting up local underrepresented leaders through the Act Six Leadership and Scholarship initiative, along with strategic support of some of CCES’s service-learning opportunities.

We are incredibly grateful to be honored by our good partner, Pacific Lutheran University, in no small part because the award’s namesake, Pastor Ron Vignec, was a close friend and associate of NLF for many years. We hope that we continue to live into Pastor Ron’s legacy of seeing beauty in communities and people in our greater Tacoma that are often overlooked, and recognizing that transformation occurs when we meet, often in the most vulnerable and painful parts of our lives. Thank you PLU!
