Act Six 2016 Senior Capstone – Reflecting on the Past, Planning for the Future

In April, the Northwest Leadership Foundation celebrated the upcoming graduation of 29 Act Six Scholars from Whitworth, Gonzaga, PLU, Northwest and Trinity Lutheran College. The reunion allowed the graduating scholars a final opportunity to come together as the Class of 2016 before stepping into the next stage of what it means to be a leaders—exploring new roles in public and private sectors, education, health care and travel abroad.

The retreat held workshops and various other activities to reflect on their experiences in college and their growth from first-year college students to graduating scholars. A guest with knowledge of financial advising held a workshop for the scholars and taught them about managing personal finances and a panel of recent, graduated Act Six Alumni spoke to the scholars and provided an opportunity for discussion, questions and tips for life after undergraduate school and further creating a difference in their home community.

With the journey to an undergraduate degree ending soon, the real journey—of creating lasting, positive community change—begins as a new cohort of Act Six scholars, the class of 2020, will be starting their own at colleges in September 2016. We all here at the Northwest Leadership Foundation and Act Six wish them the best and are excited to continue to walk alongside these incredible young people as they step into the next stage of what it means to be a lead on behalf and alongside our urban communities.
